Two bottles from Miskatonic

Miskatonic's New Small Cellar Series

Today, Miskatonic is kicking off their newest series of beers, featuring hand-bottled brews showcasing a unique technique in bottle conditioning and wood aging.  They've got two for us from stainless:

  • They took their 11.7% Russian Imperial Stout and added neutral yeast.  This will result in a silky-smooth pour.
  • Their second one will yield a lovely vibe - their 7.1% Brown Ale was finished on neutral red wine yeast for this series.

Don't overlook the cool vibe of the bottles and label either ...

Not Ready for Snow, But I'm Ready for Winter Porter

Tangled Roots' Winter Porter is now available.  If you haven't had this tasty winter beer, it's a robust porter with coconut and liquid cacao.  Grab your four pack today!

Surf Chicago on a table at Nik & Ivy

The Complete Opposite of Winter

Surf Chicago is being released at Nik & Ivy.  This is a hazy IPA loaded with citra, mosaic, and wai-iti hops.  Notes (or waves as N&I describe it) of pineapple, mango, orange, lime and berries.

Awkward Pause from Metal Monkey

Time for an Awkward Pause

Awkward Pause is the latest brew from Metal Monkey, part of their Small Batch Shut Down series.  The beer is a light, English golden ale that we amped upwith the En Masse coffee blend from Metric Coffee in Chicago.  A light beer with an intense coffee nose and flavor.

Hickory Creek With a New Experiment

Gary over at New Lenox's Hickory Creek Brewing Company just tapped a new batch of his experimental Jasmine rice beer.  They sourced the rice from the University of Arkansas, which provided a special strain called "Aroma 17."  HC added 50% more rice than the previous version ... so go visit and give it a try!

Cases of Jinglebeard Peppermint Stout from Will County Brewing

Ho Ho Ho, It's Jinglebeard

One of the best holiday traditions around is opening up a can of Jinglebeard.  This is the first Will County Beer I remember hearing about, and it fits perfectly in the holdiay seaosn.  It's a peppermint stout that Kris Kringle himself would drink four or five of.  (Did you all ever wonder what Santa does on December 26?)

A Trio for Pollyanna Roselare's Third Anniversary (Available in Lemont and St. Charles too)

They grow up so fast.  Roselare, Pollyanna's location in Roselle, IL, is turning three.  They're bringing out three beers to celebrate the anniversary.  And, if you can't make it to Roselle, those beers will be available in St. Charles and Lemont as well.  Here's the beer details:

  • Third Anniversary Beer - An Altbier Sticke - a hybrid lager/ale with fresh Noble hop bitterness and light malty sweetness.
  • Controlled Reentry - A Double Dry Hopped IPA with Mosaic, Citra, and Simcoe.
  • It Takes Me So Long To Get Ready, Red Currant - a foudre-aged sour fruit beer

Triple Dip and Cans from Black Horizon

Three drafts and a can release for Black Horizon in Willowbrook.

  • Cake Crusher (Raspberry) - Both cans and drafts available of this one.  Graham cracker crust, soft vanilla and creamy cheesecake notes ... and raspberry!  They used over 170 lbs of raspberries.
  • Barrel Aged Flanders Brown - This beer is a Flemish style brown sour, refermented on raspberries for over a year and a half.  It's a limited one for sure.
  • "Dreamsicle" Double Sugar Bomb - Ding ding ding ... sugar bomb in Dreamsicle.  Not only that, it's a big imperial milkshake IPA that weighs in 10%.

Grizzly Hackle from Ike & Oak

Are You Ready for Grizzly Hackle?

Ike & Oak in Woodridge is bringing us Grizzly Hackle today!  It's a fruity beer with citrus hop aroma.  Summit, citra, and mosaic hops were used on this beer, which has a intense bitterness that builds upon a malty backbone.

A cute snowman, a River Hawk Decoration, fake snow, and a glass of River Hawk's Toboggan Ride - their latest beer.

Time for a Sled Ride

River Hawk Brewing's newest is exciting as a Toboggan Ride, so they named it as such!  Toboggan Ride is available starting at 3pm.

4 cans and a glass of Pollyanna Brewing Company's Blackberry Allure

The Allure of Blackberry

Pollyanna Brewing Company's Allure series is a tasty, refreshing Berliner Weisse of various different flavors.  The latest release is Blackberry Allure.  It's a sour, wheat ale that is tart, fruity, and definitely worth a taste.

Several beers from Metal Monkey

Imperial Tis the Squeezin

It's the holiday season, and flavors of orange juice, cranberry juice, and pomegranate juice mean that the Metal Monkeys have been squeezin this season.  They are proud to present, Imperial Tis the Squeezin.  It's the big version of their Christmas inspired Gose.

Picture of two bottles from Skeleton Key Brewery wearing very tiny snow hats.

Glass of Annburr
