Tourism Groups Sponsor Agritourism Workshop in Morris

June 7, 2007- Morris, IL- On Wednesday July 18, 2007, the Heritage Corridor Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) along with the Northern Illinois Tourism Development Office will present an Agritourism workshop at the Grundy County Farm Bureau. The workshop will offer insight and education on the rapidly growing industry of Agritourism.

Working under a banner theme, “Keys to Success”, the workshop will offer a keynote address on success strategies, followed by breakout sessions customized to the needs of the region. Ross Ament, who has been involved with Agri-business for over 18 years, will be giving the keynote address. The general session will be headed by agricultural attorney Rich Schell. John Pike, Richard or Kori Faltz will be the leaders for the breakout sessions and give an overview on specialty markets such as the wine industry. Heritage Corridor CVB President/CEO Robert Navarro suggests, “This workshop is important to the entire agricultural community because it will not only educate people that are new to Agritourism, it will help those already involved to learn new techniques and lessons”. The presenters have provided this workshop in various regions throughout Illinois and are looking forward to sharing their expertise in Grundy, LaSalle and Will counties.

The cost of the workshop is $35 per attendee and $25 for Heritage Corridor CVB members. To sign up, contact the Heritage Corridor CVB at 815-727-2323. The Heritage Corridor Convention and Visitors Bureau promotes economic development through tourism for the communities and counties along the Illinois and Michigan Canal – the nation’s first national heritage corridor.
