| Historic I & M Canal |
| Spend the day exploring the Historic I & M Canal in Lockport. Start your
day off at the Gaylord Building Historic Site, a landmark since 1838, and played a vital role in the Canal. Stroll through
the Lincoln's Landing a new interactive park which depicts Abraham Lincoln's life. Have lunch at the Public Landing, then
visit the Illinois State Museum Lockport Gallery, which is housed in the Norton Building a massive limestone structure built
around 1850 as a grain processing center on the I & M Canal. Visit the Will County Historical Society housed in the
original headquarters of the I & M Canal. Built in 1837, the building was placed on the National Register of Historic
Places in 1972. Spend sometime browsing the shops in historic downtown, where most of the buildings are made of limestone
and brick dating back to 1836.
