A mid-1800’s architectural wonder helped make Chicago the city it is today.  The 96-mile Illinois & Michigan Canal (I&M Canal) connected the Great Lakes in Bridgeport, Chicago to the Illinois River at LaSalle-Peru, and amazingly unique towns sprung up that maintain their authentic charm to this date.

Opened in 1930 and designed by C.H. Muelenford and Sam Sneed, Big Run turns 84 this year. Hundreds of tall oak trees throughout the course (some oaks are centuries old), complimented by five lakes and Long Run Creek, will test your shot making abilities. 8 of 18 holes bring water into play. The course is heavily bunkered.

Big Run Golf Club can be difficult but enjoyable, challenging and sporty. The course has never stood on it’s laurels, it has been reshaped over the years to compliment both the improvements in today’s golfers and to take advantage of this scenic piece of land golfers have come to enjoy.
