Putnam County may hold the smallest county in Illinois designation, but its borders brim with interesting sites from places of historical significance to the progress of agriculture. Abraham Lincoln honed his craft while practicing law at the historical 1838 Putnam County Courthouse in Hennepin. It is the oldest courthouse still in use in Illinois. The Pulsifer House dates from 1844 and was once the home of prominent businessman Edward Pulsifer. The historical society provides tours of the home, rife with historic details, including period furnishings, Greek revival design, plus original and restored features of the house. Just down the road you’ll find the Putnam County Agriculture Museum which houses antique farm equipment and has exhibits showcasing the history of corn in the U.S., the Illinois River and wildlife and Putnam County history. Take home a taste of the country from Boggio’s Orchard. Fresh-picked or u-pick produce, bakery, craft store, petting zoo, pony rides, go-karts, and family entertainment – at Boggio’s there is fun and tasty treats for every season.

Includes Municipalities: Florid, Granville, Hennepin, Magnolia, Mark, McNabb, Mt. Palatine, Putnam, & Standard
