Where is the Heritage Corridor?
The Heritage Corridor Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) encompasses the communities and counties along the historic 97-mile Illinois and Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor. The Heritage Corridor spans from the Chicago Portage Area just southwest of Chicago to LaSalle-Peru including the counties of Will, Grundy, LaSalle and Putnam. The region conveniently located along I-55 from Chicago to Joliet along I-80 west to LaSalle-Peru.

Guided Winter Hikes at Starved Rock

Join the Winter Guided Hikes in Starved Rock for a chance to see frozen waterfalls & eagles. With dates scattered throughout February and March, you shouldn't have a problem finding a day that works for you. This hike is about 4.5 miles round trip, so make sure to dress appropriately!

February 17 & 18 - 11am - 2pm

February 24 & 25 - 11am - 2pm

March 3 & 4 - 11am - 2pm

March 10 & 11 - 11am - 2pm

March 17 & 18 - 11am - 2pm

March 24 & 25 - 11am - 2pm

March 31 - 11am - 2pm

Participants will meet in the hotel lobby of the Lodge to pick up a snack and a “Starved Rock” backpack. The tour concludes at the Lodge about 2:00 pm. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear proper footwear. In the event of ice and snow, Yaktrax is advised for extra traction. Also, remember to bring your binoculars and cameras. The hike will include: homemade granola bar, bottled water, “Starved Rock” backpack and voucher for small hot chocolate or coffee in their café upon your return.
