The Midwest Waterways Short Film Festival kicks off on July 11

Whether you are a filmmaker, film buff, or someone looking for something to do, the Midwest Waterways Short Film Festival is a great opportunity to see the storytelling talents of the independent film industry. This is a summer-long event located in the historic Downtown Lockport at the Roxy Theater starting July 11th.

Film genres will be shown on specific dates and you will get the opportunity to vote for the “Best of Category”. The festival will be covering 5 genres - Drama (July 11), Comedy (July 25), Horror (August 8), Documentary (August 22) and Sci-Fi/Animated (September 12).

Between films shown, there will be an opportunity to discuss the work with the filmmakers themselves. Each genre will have a single “Best of Category” as voted on by those in attendance that night. Winners will receive a $150 first prize, and show their film at the “Best of Fest” on October 5th. Winners of the “Best of Fest” will receive a $500 grand prize!

Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased in advance. Doors open at 6:00PM, with the movies beginning at 6:30PM. Advanced purchase is recommended. Food and drink will be available for purchase as well. The Roxy Theater is located at 1017 S. State St., Lockport, IL 60441.
