Learn About Our National Mammal – The Bison

Celebrate National Bison Day this Saturday with the Forest Preserve District of Will County and Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie for the Bison Crawl.

This event will be joined by local businesses and organizations. It will include several stops in Southwest Will County and offering different ways to celebrate our national mammal.

At each Forest Preserve stop there will be a district staff as well as the Ruther family from Ruther Bison Farm on site to talk all things bison. They will discuss bison interpretation with furs, skulls and even their agriculture.

Prairie ecology hikes will be offered along with the popular bison chip throwing contest which has been a crowd’s favorite in the past years.

The entire family is welcomed to come out and celebrate. This is a free event with no registration needed. So, bring your comfy shoes, warm layers and learn about why our national mammal is so great!
