Where is the Heritage Corridor?
The Heritage Corridor Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) encompasses the communities and counties along the historic 97-mile Illinois and Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor. The Heritage Corridor spans from the Chicago Portage Area just southwest of Chicago to LaSalle-Peru including the counties of Will, Grundy, LaSalle and Putnam. The region conveniently located along I-55 from Chicago to Joliet along I-80 west to LaSalle-Peru.

Light Up the Holiday Festival & Parade- Joliet IL

Watch downtown Joliet light up next Friday, November 29, 2019 for their Light Up the Holidays Festival & Parade.

The festivities will begin at 10am and will include the Fantastic Fun Fair in the Joliet Area Historical Museum’s auditorium. You can expect to see ice sculpting in front of the museum. Stay for the activities & crafts on all three floors with a holiday movie in the visitor center. 

There will be performances from 11am-3pm by the JTHS Central Jazz Ensemble, JTHS Robotics team demonstration, Bicentennial Park Gnomes, Saint Joseph Academy Choir and Kids Christmas Choir of Fine Tunes Center for the Arts of Channahon, and lastly Joliet American Legion Band Small Ensemble.

The Joliet Public Library will be having special story time with Santa at noon and 2pm where Joliet’s Mayor Bob O’Derkirk will be joining Santa. A horse and carriage will also be outside from 3pm to 5pm for pictures! 

Other things to look forward to such as Sue Regis Glass Art will have live flameworking demonstrations at no charge, C&C Vision Gallery will be creating holiday ornaments, at Gji’s Sweet Shoppe kids can enjoy decorating delicious holiday cookies with Mrs. Claus, and at Jitters get your photo taken on Santa’s lap! 

You can look forward to the deals that will be happen around you such as Chicken-n-Spice will be giving away free holiday treat from Santa’s elves and you can grab a $1 got chocolate. ItIsAmazing will be giving away free coloring books and crayons with purchase for customers. 

Don’t forget to stop by the Teddy Bear Tea where you can create memory that will last forever, while enjoying a special holiday brunch in a sweet fairyland. The brunch will feature delicious food and fun workshop activities complete with a special appearance by St. Nick and a keepsake Rialto Bear for each child all for $25. 

Then of course to wrap up a full day of events, the Christmas Tree Lighting begins at 5:15pm on Van Buren Plaza followed by the Light Up The Holidays Parade at 5:30pm.
