Shorewood is a close-knit, progressive community which began as a fishing and resort destination along the DuPage River and Historic Route 66. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful natural recreation areas of Hammel Woods and the river for fishing, swimming, hiking, biking, canoeing, and cross country skiing. Shorewood hosts their annual Crossroads Festival in August featuring contests, a parade, 5K race, hot dog and pie eating competition, carnival, live music and fireworks.
