Will County is a vast and diverse expanse, supported by 37 municipalities and 24 townships, which seamlessly melds rural life, urban amenities, and a rich cultural heritage. Historic Route 66 touches more than 12 of the county’s communities, giving access to countless historical sites and iconic stops including the Chicago Portage National Historic Site, Isle a la Cache Museum, The Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Polk-a-Dot Drive In, White Fence Farm, The Launching Pad Drive-In, The Rialto Square Theater, The Joliet Area Historical Museum & Route 66 Welcome Center, Route 66 Raceway and Chicagoland Speedway. The nation’s first transcontinental highway, the Lincoln Highway, also makes a pass through the county. Plainfield marks the spot where Lincoln Highway and Route 66 cross, creating an intersection of the two longest roads in the world. Aside from Will County’s collection of historic attractions, the Bolingbrook area boasts a vibrant shopping, and entertainment scene, and plenty of the downtown districts offer quaint stores, boutiques, and gourmet dining.
