Where is the Heritage Corridor?
The Heritage Corridor Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) encompasses the communities and counties along the historic 97-mile Illinois and Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor. The Heritage Corridor spans from the Chicago Portage Area just southwest of Chicago to LaSalle-Peru including the counties of Will, Grundy, LaSalle and Putnam. The region conveniently located along I-55 from Chicago to Joliet along I-80 west to LaSalle-Peru.

Hoot Hike

Come out to the Isle a la Cache Museum for the Hoot Hike, January 24, and investigate to see if there are any owls in the area. Hike along the path with a naturalist, while exploring owl habitat and listening for their calls. Learn about owl biology, owl mythology, and all types of other interesting facts about owls.


Hoot Hike participants will hike 0.3 miles on natural surfaces across uneven terrain. The program will begin inside and continue outdoors. Please dress for the weather. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service to participate in this program should submit a request online no later than 48 hours before the program.
