Celebrate America's National Mammal - the bison - with us from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3- National Bison Day! Meet at the Iron Bridge Trailhead. The Trailhead is located 1.5 miles of the Gemini Giant in Wilmington- on the east side of Hwy 53--- old historic Route 66! A herd of bison was introduced at Midewin in 2015 as a 20-year experiment: volunteers, partners & staff are monitoring to see if the herd's grazing, which creates more varied lengths of grasses, is helping to encourage the return of more native Illinois prairie insects, birds & other wildlife! Come celebrate with us!
