Welcome to the LaSalle County Historical Society's 49th Annual Burgoo Festival. This festival is a two day event that draws nearly 50,000 people to the streets of downtown Utica, near Starved Rock State Park. Saturday features over 100 vendors displaying handmade, homemade, and unique items for sale as well as the Utica Fire Department's Classic Car show and live music. Sunday over 350 vendors line the streets of Utica with their wares for sale. Live music, 50/50, and of coarse the Festival's namesake, the Burgoo Stew, will be available for purchase. The Burgoo stew is a secret recipe guarded by the "Burgoomeister" in charge of making over 500 gallons of stew. Burgoo is made over an open fire the Saturday night before Sunday and is available for purchase at 9 am Sunday morning. Burgoo Festival is the primary fundraiser for the LaSalle County Historical Society. Funds from Burgoo are used to operate the LaSalle County Historical Society and preserve all of the artifacts that are housed at our museum campus.
