Join us for "Arts & Nature on the River." This event combines the beauty of nature with a sampling of the creative arts it inspires. Stroll the paved trails around Four Rivers Environmental Education Center while exploring several informal venues and galleries located throughout the preserve. Visitors will discover numerous art exhibits, live music, intriguing performances, creative demonstrations and hands-on activities. A special feature this year will be the advance viewing of the "Inspired by the National Parks" quilt exhibit, scheduled to officially open June 17. The exhibit was created in celebration of the National Park Service's centennial anniversary. Other featured art at the event includes folk music, storytelling, poetry, painting, rock balancing, photography, silverpoint and more. "Arts & Nature" is an "unplugged" affair with an environmentally sensitive approach. Bring a refillable water bottle and replenish at stations throughout the site. Visitors can bike or hike into the event via the I&M Canal Trail. Bicycle parking will be available. The event route is a 0.66-mile accessible trail loop and will be limited to foot traffic for the safety and enjoyment of everyone. Wear comfortable walking shoes and come explore at your own pace. Take in the sights and sounds, and discover something new at every bend in the trail! "Arts & Nature" will be held on paved paths across uneven terrain. Some portions of the event will be held inside an accessible facility.
