Where is the Heritage Corridor?
The Heritage Corridor Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) encompasses the communities and counties along the historic 97-mile Illinois and Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor. The Heritage Corridor spans from the Chicago Portage Area just southwest of Chicago to LaSalle-Peru including the counties of Will, Grundy, LaSalle and Putnam. The region conveniently located along I-55 from Chicago to Joliet along I-80 west to LaSalle-Peru.

Join us on a paddling adventure as we investigate this once crucial waterway. U.S. Canoe Association certified instructors will lead you on a day trip that is sure to fulfill the explorer in you. The day will include a 2.5-mile paddling trip to McKinley Woods where lunch will be provided. Then, we will launch back onto the water for an invigorating 3-mile paddle back to our starting location. All equipment is provided. Previous kayaking experience is required. Participants must be able to portage kayaks over short distances. Trails are on uneven natural terrain. For ages 18 or older. Registration required by Wednesday, August 30.
