The Bureau County Fair Board and the Illinois Valley Quilts of Valor are proud to announce the addition of 3 new classes added to the Textiles Department for the 164th annual Bureau County Fair which will be held in Princeton from August 21 to 25th, 2019.

The classes give new options for people to participate in entering and showing their talents in quilting. As of the 2019 fair, the 3 new classes are as follows:

1. Quilt of Valor (55" x 65" minimum size, 72" x 90" maximum size) patriotic colored theme fabric and pattern must be used. Quilt must be pieced and bound by exhibitor, machine or hand quilted by professional quilter.

2. Quilt of Valor (55" x 65" minimum size, 72" x 90" maximum size) patriotic colored theme fabric and pattern must be used. Quilt must be pieced, quilted and bound by the exhibitor.

3. Quilt of Valor made by multiple participants such as a Quilt Bee, quilts made by two or more people (i.e. exhibitor pieced top and quilted by another person; quilts made from a block exchange; quilts made by a group) machine or hand quilted. This quilt is entered by one person on the registration. **All quilts are required to have a hanging sleeve attached, to be entered. (Directions for a hanging sleeves are available through the fair office.)

Sunday, August 25th at the fair will be Veterans' Day including free admission for Veterans. A Bureau County Tribute to Veterans will be held at 1 pm at the Grandstand. It will feature guest speakers, musical entertainment, the Flags of Freedom and Illinois Valley Quilts of Valor. The Quilts of Valor (QOV)fair entries will be taken down and awarded at the event. When the QOV is entered, the exhibitor will declare who they would like the quilt to be awarded to at the ceremony. The exhibitor is responsible for notifying the awardee and having them present for the ceremony at the fair. If the exhibitor does not have a Veteran in mind, the exhibitor may donate the quilt to Quilts of Valor to be awarded to a Veteran at the ceremony or at a later date. Quilts of Valor Foundation is a 5013c organization.

The Fair and Illinois Valley Quilts of Valor are excited about this new addition to the fair and look forward to honoring our men and women who have sacrificed and served their country.
