The Will County National Organization for Women Legal and Education Fund (LEF), Community Alliance and Action Network Midwest (CAAN ) and Maneuvers Bar & Co. are thrilled to announce the inaugural Joliet PrideFest. Scheduled for Saturday, June 29, 2019 from Noon-4:00PM, Joliet PrideFest will be held at Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park, 201 W. Jefferson Street in downtown Joliet.

A fun filled day is planned for friends, families and all who support equality in our community. Events planned include Scales & Tales Traveling Zoo - with Xena the Sloth, Story Time with Miss Foozie, food trucks and Elder Brewing Company, Musical Review with Past & Present Miss Gay Joliets, Dee J Christa, Touch-a-Truck and more!!

The mission of Joliet PrideFest is to celebrate the history, heritage, and unique contributions of the LGBTQ+ community. Through educational programs, family friendly events, and leadership, we seek to increase the visibility of our LGBTQ+ neighbors and to raise awareness of LGBTQ+ issues. We support diversity, inclusion, equality, and a strong sense of community for all in Joliet.

Ranked by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation as the third friendliest Illinois city for the LGBTQ community, Joliet is an amazing place to raise a family.

"Coming of age in semi-rural Indiana, I could hardly imagine a world where I could live openly as myself. When I graduated from college, I moved to one of the large cities with a vibrant LGBTQ+ culture where we felt safe to live our authentic lives. A few decades later, there have been many advances in LGBTQ+ rights so now it's time for us to tackle the next great adventure: the suburbs. Like heterosexual families, LGBTQ+ families want better schools, room to spread out and safe places for their kids to play. Joliet is a beacon of hope here in the SW suburbs. Events like PrideFest allow us to interact with the community and show how alike we are. We are doctors, lawyers, teachers, etc., and we are your neighbors," says event Chair Tracy Ritter.
