Where is the Heritage Corridor?
The Heritage Corridor Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) encompasses the communities and counties along the historic 97-mile Illinois and Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor. The Heritage Corridor spans from the Chicago Portage Area just southwest of Chicago to LaSalle-Peru including the counties of Will, Grundy, LaSalle and Putnam. The region conveniently located along I-55 from Chicago to Joliet along I-80 west to LaSalle-Peru.

This kayak program explores the Des Plaines River. Enjoy the sights and sounds of nature from water level. Join certified instructors as we kayak upriver for up to 3 miles, then turn around for an invigorating paddle back to Isle a la Cache. All equipment is provided including kayaks, paddles and life jackets. Please wear clothing that can get wet, including shoes. No flip-flops please. Make sure to bring a water bottle and a snack. Previous kayaking experience is required for this advanced paddle program. Participants may be required to portage kayaks over short distances and will be required to paddle the entire time. Trails and launches are on uneven natural terrain. No restroom facilities will be available while paddling. Ages 15 or older. Participants younger than age 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult. Registration required by Tuesday, July 9: 815.886.1467.
