Where is the Heritage Corridor?
The Heritage Corridor Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) encompasses the communities and counties along the historic 97-mile Illinois and Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor. The Heritage Corridor spans from the Chicago Portage Area just southwest of Chicago to LaSalle-Peru including the counties of Will, Grundy, LaSalle and Putnam. The region conveniently located along I-55 from Chicago to Joliet along I-80 west to LaSalle-Peru.

Great Times at the Starved Rock Lodge

Here are a few of the activities happening weekly at Starved Rock Lodge and Conference Center this summer. As always, check out their website and Facebook pages for changes or additions!

Boat Tours at Starved Rock Lodge

Boat Cruises

The Starved Rock Lodge and Conference Center gives you a couple of options to cruise down the Illinois River. Both day and evening options throughout the Summer and early Fall are available.

  • Their popular Land & Water Cruise runs June-September Monday, Wednesday and Fridays 11:00AM-3:00PM. Price is $41/person and begins with lunch and trolley/boat ride to follow where you will see the east end of the Starved Rock State Park area by water. Reservations are required, call to book.
  • The Dinner & Evening Cruise runs June-September from 5:00PM-8:00PM Monday, Tuesday and Thursday night. $41/person. You’ll board the Starved Rock Trolley and travel to Lone Point Shelter where you’ll board the river boat “The Eagle I” for a leisurely, scenic cruise on the Illinois River. After the cruise, you’ll return to the Lodge where you’ll enjoy dinner from their special menu. Reservations are required and the tour needs a minimum of 10 people to run.

Hiking and Walking Tours

  • Do you want to learn more about the Starved Rock Area and surrounding Utica? The Historic Trolley Tour will give you the rich history and be able to see many of the historic areas during this tour. They run every day from June-October for an hour and a half, various times and prices range from $8-$12 (children, seniors and adults). Tours leave from in front of the Great Hall of Starved Rock Lodge and reservations are recommended, call to book.
  • Visit a Canyon Tours run June-September at various times. Price is $33/person. You’ll enjoy and trolley ride to one of their majestic canyons. The walk is less than a mile and will take about 45 minutes. The trolley will then take you on a 1.5 hour boat ride on the Illinois River. This tour is not recommended for those with limited mobility. Reservations are required.
  • Take a hike and enjoy some lunch! This hike departs from the hotel lobby of the Lodge with a knowledgeable guide to see canyons and bluffs made from St. Peter’s Sandstone. The hike is considered strenuous as there are many stairs and uneven terrain. Hikes are about 4.5 miles round trip. Lunch is included with your choice of turkey, ham or veggie wrap, bag of chips, granola bar, piece of fruit and a bottle of water. Advanced reservations are required as space is limited, $18/per person.

The Starved Rock Lodge isn’t just a meeting area for their tours, you can also come for some wonderful shows and dinner too!

  • Friday and Saturday nights outside on the Veranda there is live music featuring a different band each night Memorial Day to Labor Day. Free cover charge and a wide variety of beer and drink specials. https://www.starvedrocklodge.com/activity/back-door-lounge-veranda-music/
  • The Lodge also has numerous Musical Tribute Shows scheduled not only this summer, but throughout the year as well. See the link below for more details! Make a night of it and book an overnight stay to complete your package.
